Extractions

While we make every effort to save every permanent tooth, there are times when dental extractions are necessary. Reasons for extractions include overcrowding of teeth, impacted wisdom teeth, preparation for an orthodontic treatment plan, and diseased or damaged teeth. In most cases, extracted teeth can be replaced with bridges or implants.

In children, on occasion a primary tooth might have to be extracted to create a gap for the underlying permanent tooth to fill.

If an extraction is necessary, our dentist will discuss with you the level of difficulty involved and whether it is a procedure she feels should be handled in our office or by referral to an oral surgeon.
